Andi’s Clayhouse

Filed under: whatnots — Jolana @ 11:35 am

It all started with my love of cupcakes. Yes, those yummy, colorful little cakes! I wanted to learn how to bake them not only to eat them, but because I like to decorate them. But then I’m convinced. I’m no good baker! Of course, a beautiful cuppy should also taste yummy. Just imagine seeing a cupcake that looks so good, then be dismayed after taking a bite. :(

Then came polymer clay. It’s something I just discovered while browsing the net.

Polymer clay is a sculptable material based on the polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It usually contains no clay minerals, and is only called “clay” because its texture and working properties resemble those of mineral clay.” - from Wikipedia

I saw sites that create miniature food and what do you know? Cuppies! Wanting to make clay cupcakes, I set out to learn about polymer clays. Guess what you’ll do to make it harden? You bake it!  Now, I just don’t bake cupcakes, I also bake cookies, cakes, doughnuts, chocolate and bears (Yes! Bears!). See! I’m a good baker after all!

You can see all my polymer clay creations/accessories at http://andisclayhouse.multiply.com and they are all for sale! Hehe!

Below are just some of my favorites…

Smileys

Filed under: family, andi, baby stuff — Jolana @ 4:10 pm

Andi has always been fond of drawing circles and dots ever since we bought her a magnetic drawing board ( Write & draw on it with a pen then move the spring lever on the bottom to erase your work.) It was only three days ago when we recognized what she was really drawing - a smiley! We were all surprised, of course! Her pedia said that toddlers are expected to draw circles at two. I also read from this link : “The period between 2 and 3 is when scribbling generally becomes more deliberate, and children typically learn to draw (and recognize) circles.” Andi’s just one year and 9 months and she’s not only drawing circles but smileys. Who would not be proud? Urrmm… Do I sound like a bragging mom? hehe…

Below are series of shots of Andi drawing a smiley, moves the spring lever (to erase the drawing) and draws another smiley sequence.
