we never...Ever since Rene worked as an applications engineer, he’s been travelling a lot. For some of these travels, I tagged along. But for most of them, especially if it will just be for a week or two, I stay behind. In times like these (being away from each other), what else is the cheapest way to communicate than via the internet. Yes! Online messengers, like Yahoo Messenger and Skype.
I was a Skype user back then but there were times, especially during peak hours, when the delay on their voice and video calling services was too long that it was really frustrating. Hence, I switched to Yahoo Messenger, not that it’s better, but because the delay is a little, well..”acceptable”. Then Skype 2.0 came (Official release date: May 24, 2006) and I shouted Hallelujah! With this new update, having a voice conversation is definitely clearer. So is their video feature. The picture is far clearer, larger and more stable (with only a very, very little delay). Best of all, it’s free! For me, Skype is so far the better, if not the best, online messenger at this point in time (They should be paying me for this, don’t you think? 
). Hence, for now, “tata” to Yahoo Messenger and “nice to see you again, Skype!”

With Skype 2.0, I can upsize the video as big as my pc’s screen and yet, it remains stable!

Jolana talks about how she found some quality problems in Skype previously, stopped using it, but is now back. This is great to hear because it reassures the work we do in each release about improving the quality of calls……
