Photographic Glimpses

So I gathered some of my photos for an AVP(audio-video presentation) to be presented as my camera club’s final requirement for regular membership status. I’ve been a probee since the start of the year and thankfully got through the technical requirement of 6 consecutive passing photo entries(in our monthly photo contest) by March. Getting passing marks wasn’t easy as I had hoped to be though. Just when you think you already know what tickles the judges, another set of judges would then prove you wrong. But all is good as I also got lucky with 3rd and 5th place finishes for the “Objects” theme. However, the gratifying feeling only lasts for about a second or two when you realize that consistency in taking good pictures is the key. And that’s what I don’t have right now.
I guess I’ll have to settle for these glimpses for now…

Time is essentially my problem in going full force with this painting. But I’m trudging on.

Small Wonders… A Painting Progress

I’m resurrecting a subject that I didn’t finish painting 3 years ago. This time in a bigger scale. This is around 30″ x 20″ inches. Much much larger than the sizes I’m used to painting on. From now on, I’m painting BIG.

“I Want My Baby Back…

… baby baby back ribs, I want my baby back baby back baby back ribs… CHILI’S… BABY BACK RIBS!”
Not to sound and look like Fat Bastard, I did get my baby back ribs fix. Not from Chili’s though. Tony Roma’s.

Dali is relegated to snacking on the plates while I get first dibs on the ribs. (Huh? Nice rhyme.)
Not much fanfare for the additional year today. Which is how I really want it to be. Just family and those succulent ribs by my side(ha! no pun intended!).
I’ve come full circle. Not too long ago, I dropped my brushes in favor of pixel pushing. Now at almost 12 midnight, I’m still painting a watercolor piece for an art competition review. Hopefully, I’ll get invited.
Ahhhh. Life is good indeed.
Thanks to everyone who sent their greetings. Appreciate it a lot.

Little Beach Bum

Caught Andi from afar playing with sand. Using a 70-300mm lens, I was able to let her play undisturbed and her relaxed state showed in this photo. I love how both the foreground and background were out of focus while she was sharp in the middle. She didn’t like the texture of sand at first but after a while, she was playing with much gusto.

Note: Me, my wife and Andi are still here in Cebu on an extended stay since last Holy Wednesday. After spending 5 days at our house in Lilo-an, we’re now staying at a hotel just across Ayala Center Cebu courtesy of work. Hopefully, the rest of our photos will trickle in sooner than later as I wrestle with work-related tasks. Reality bites.

I’ll expound myself later.
I’m in a zone with very low wi-fi connectivity.
Just sharing my first roll of Holga shots. 9 out of 12 survived. Pwede na.

I was driving from Makati and nearing the Skyway tollgate at 80kph when I saw a KLM airplane just taking off from the airport. I quickly glanced at my rear-view mirror and seeing no one behind me, I slowed down and timed my shot when the plane was just above the tollgate. The best part of this shot is - I got a whole lot of 3M “polarizing” filter in front of me which clearly defined the clouds against the blue sky. Crazily!

With the 3M Superblack tint as my filter, I got puffy clouds all over Makati’s skyline. Suweeeet !

I took the wrong lane and got stuck with this touristy van promoting Manila.

First shot of Andi and Jolana in lomo. Crazy colors.

The first frame I shot, I forgot to take the lens cap out. Knowing that the film doesn’t advance automatically, I shot the frame again during snack time. Nice turnout.

Waiting for the light to turn green at the Edsa-Ayala Avenue junction.

I love this shot. My little Andi is such a natural model, don’t you think? Hehe.

Kung-Fu Photography
I wouldn't believe this style of photography existed until I saw it with my very own eyes. PRAYING MANTIS Style!!! To See Is To Bilib!!! I recently tried replicating this stance on my own and I think I broke one of my ulnas. Too much torque applied in twisting that right arm. I ...
There’s Work and Then There’s Playtime
Here I am again tapering off with my journal presence. I guess it shows you how my year is starting. Yes, the work front is THAT busy. No complaints though. Work is work. At the very least, in between debug time, there's always our office dart board to pummel. In ...

One Rainy Day With Johnny…
... Johnny Balbona that is. It was also Gerry's birthday and while other parties have magicians and parlor games, we had Johnny doing inner dance healing. It was Ed Tadeo's turn in this video. And Jonas Diego was the one annotating/story-telling-a-lie in the background. At Gerry's old house San Pablo City, Laguna January 20, 2008 -oOo-

Do I Really Need To Run On A Sunday?
I mean, seriously. Do I really need to? Give me a break! I was driving through sleet and rain all day yesterday. Okay, no sleet. But try driving behind a whole line of sugar cane trucks along a two-lane national road(where you can't pass unless you counterflow) and it ...
So I Can Outrun All Dogs Out There
My alarm went off at 5:30 am this morning. I thought it was still too dark for me to be running around the cementery so I snuck in a bit more sleep. Yes, my oval is the local graveyard. Why so? It's the one nearest our place. The elliptical road ...
The Year Just Started and I’m Already Hacking

Komikeros… Karaokeros
